Carolina Wrens

I think I may have been doing the male of this species a disservice.  It would appear that there are two wrens feeding the babies in their nest and I'm assuming one is male.  Does anyone know of any differences between the male and female of the Carolina Wren?

Can you spot the odd one out?

  1. Wonderful photos, and oh yes, I see one with somewhat of a crest on his/her head and such a cute quizzical expression. I don't know anything about the Carolina wren although it certainly looks like the Bewick wren. I've been trying to figure out which wren spent a few hours on my deck after perhaps hitting the sliding door. (I think it is fine as it finally moved on, probably with quite the head ache.)

  2. I found this website that talks about the wrens. Doesn't sound like there is a distinguishing feature between the male and female. I don't believe that photo of the bird with the pointed head is a Carolina wren. That is an adorable photo, by the way!
